Wararrka(Kings Canyon) National Park

Watarrka National Park is best known for its famous landmark, Kings Canyon. Kings Canyon walls rise 270m above Kings Creek and the rock holes and gorges provide refuge for more than 600 species of plants and many native animals. Here we completed the Rim walk which is a 6km walk taking you along the rim of the canyon itself. The first part of the walk is the most challenging as it begins with a steep 270m ascent to the top. After this you are distracted with the view of the Kings Creek and desert below. Half way through this walk there is a look out point which provides an amazing view down onto the Kings Creek. We took a few moments to soak in the surroundings and catch our breaths before continuing on to the Garden of Eden where a variety of wild life and plants live. Unfortunately we didn't see any wildlife as it's dry season and there wasn't much water. We suspect the animals would be hiding in the shade or by any remaining water holes. We did however see a few lizards along our walk. Hope you enjoy the photos.
