Lennox Head and Lake Ainsworth

After Mount Warning it was time to move back to the coast. Next on the list was Byron Bay however we arrived at night and in the middle of a massive thunderstorm so we couldn't get a proper look about the place. Byron Bay is also the most notorious place for the police harrassing backpackers in vans as well. Everyone we had spoken to that was travelling North had mentioned that they had been moved on and quite a few had picked up some hefty fines so we had to drive outside the town to park up for the night. It rained all night and when we woke up it was still cool and grey so we decided not to bother going back and start moving South.

In doing so we came across Lennox Head. This is only a few kilometres South of Byron but it shares the same great beaches and surf spots. It was still too dull to spend the day at the beach however there is a lake just behind the beach called Lake Ainsworth. This lake is huge and is surrounded by trees that produce tea-tree oil. The leaves from these trees fall into the water and make it a brown colour which doesn't look too appealing, however it is very beneficial to your skin so we dived in.
