Brisbane

When we first got close to Brisbane the first sign that you got that it was a large city was the fact that the Highway finally changed from 1 lane into a proper 3 lane motorway for the first time. Then as we approached the city we could see Multi-story buildings and the traffic was mobbed. Brisbane has a population of around 1.6m, which felt insane to us as the biggest town we had been in in Australia so far was around 140,000. It was weird to walk around the city and realise that you were once again in a multi-cultural environment. All the towns that we had been in apart from in the outback were racist white Ozzys and very few ethnic groups.

We spent around a week in Brisbane and the majority of our time was spent in the library where we were job searching. We didn't have too much time to do any fun activities or check out the city too much. We are hoping to go back there later on to take in a few of the sights etc.

One of the cool things at the library was the art museum beside it. Here they had 3 full scale statues of humpback whales suspended from the ceiling in the tunnel walkway. They also had whale songs playing which echoed around the tunnel and sounded cool. It brought back some good memories of our day whale watching at Hervey Bay and we took a few photos to give you an idea of how big these whales are compared to us.
